April 25, 2016

So this week was really good. We were able to visit lots of people, and the members were great. We had brother Jefferies come out with us multiple times and Leontae who is a recent convert too. We also are teaching a family, the dad is named Luis and his son Caleb who is 9 and his wife Elvira( we aren't really teaching the wife yet). But Luis and Caleb came to church yesterday and liked it a lot. Luis is from Ecuador and speaks pretty good English, but Brother Jones interpreted for him to spanish for Sunday school and Priesthood which was really cool. We also met an old truck driver this week so he liked to know my family were truck drivers too. The temple trip got changed up just a little bit, we arent doing endowments anymore. It was just kind of crazy because Elder Wright had already gone and he wasn't supposed to go agian so it would be a big fiasco to figure everything out, but are going on Saturday with Janie to do baptisms for the dead, at least that is the plan right now. Brother Lee is lots of fun, he has a son who is 15 I think, then a daughter who is Allies age and a daughter who is Daxes age, and a down syndrome son. We arent going with him anymore either. Also, Elder Wright is here now and is from Provo. He is a into basketball a lot and he goes home in September. He is a is a pretty fun person. The weather here is all over the place, it rains, then its 75, then it rains again so you never know what you might get. But things are going good here. People are all over the place when the weather is warm so that is good for us.  I hope you have a wonderful week.

4/19/16

This week has been a nice week for sure. We got sunny skies and 70's most of the later end of the week and the weekend so that was good. I am staying here in Akron with Elder Whittaker, and Elder Mitchell is spending his last transfer here too, Elder Klinglesmith, his companion, is getting transfered though. It was a tougher week for getting a hold of people, I guess with the nice weather everyone decided to leave home. We did get to go to Kirtland with our investigator Josh. It was really fun for me to go back there again and see people I knew, and we even got to see Donald, who showed up at the sites for some reason, before we left. I will send some pictures from it. Brother Roscos drove us, Josh, the other Akron Elders, and Karem who got baptized about a year ago. We are still working with the ladies we had baptizmal dates for, one isnt ready and the other has been out of town for about 3 weeks and we just got in contact with her again. We had District meeting last tuesday and again yesterday because of transfers. I am pretty good buddies with Janie who we baptized and Leontae who got baptized in December. He comes out with us a lot and we are teaching his girlfriend too so we get to see him a lot. Brother Lee in the Bishopbric is a really nice guy and is just one of those people who anyone has lots of fun around. He is about 21, so we are about the closet people to his age in the ward.  As for next week, we are able to go the Columbus temple in April and October for ourselves and it might end up Brother Lee will drive us down there next week. But, if we go it will be on Preparation day and we can move it around to accomidate our rides schedule. So I might email on Monday, but maybe a different day too next week just depending on what happens. But I am doing good. A bike isnt as fast as a car so we are usually pretty full on people to bike to all during the day and always looking for more people to set up an appointment with. I got a letter from the Stake so that was awesome and again, thanks for everyones help. I hope everyone has a wonderful week and has lots of fun. As we always tell almost everyone we see, remember to say your prayers and read your scriptures. Have a great week.

Another week down

Another week down here too. The weather has been more like winter this week than spring, at least the end which is all I remember haha. It snowed a couple of days this week and has been raining today. This week we had district meeting on Wednesday so the Zone leaders could go on exchanges with Elder Mitchell and Elder Klinglesmith. Elder Ogle came here, I knew him from Kirtland he was in Painesville which we even covered part of. He is from Chicago so he has some good stories. We got to clean the Food Bank again for our Friday service this week so that was fun. We also went to a baptism on Saturday for the New Portage Elders because they asked us to give a little lesson while the people were changing out of their wet clothes. We are just trying to help a couple of our investigators named Gloria and Lawana ready for baptism and as always looking for anyone to talk to we can. I havent talked to Lebron yet, but one of these days.  Elder Mitchell is doing good still, people are trying to give him a hard time but he is a good missionary. Hopefully some of this rain moves on out to Utah, that would be good for us haha. But Things are really going good for me here. I hope you have a wonderful week and that everything gets done that needs to.

April 4, 2016

I am still doing pretty good this week. This week we were able to find some new investigators so that was good. One of the people we met, after Elder Whittaker shared the first vision, stopped and said that was all he needed to hear and he felt really touched. He was at a point in his life he wanted to get back to church and we will see how it goes, but it was really cool to to have someone say that. We watched conference at the church. It was really good I thought as well, to many good ones I cant pick a favorite.  It would have been really neat to be at the Kirtland temple, I think they watched the priesthood session in the Kirtland temple for the people who lived around the area, or at least I think that is what I remember them announcing. But nothing else to crazy happened this week. I was a colder week and snowed yesterday morning, but melted away by the end of the day. We did quite a bit of biking, we had a couple dinner appointments in Copley, which is away from Akron and there is still houses, but more spread out and I even saw a couple of clydesdales there. It is like the country from what I have seen for Ohio.  Next week will be normal, and no transfers until the next week because this is a 7 week transfer instead of 6.  I hope you have a great week and I will do the same.

March 29, 2016

So this week was a pretty good week. We had a baptism on Saturday with Janie Oliver. She is actually 70 and was super excited to get baptized, she was even baptized by Bishop Davis. We also had Zone Conference this week, so President Brown and Elder Murphey and my friend Elder Jensen, the assistants, came and we had the conference from about 10 to 5 with a lunch break in the middle. It was really good and I learned a lot for being better at teaching people. The weather changes everyday, yesterday was borderline hot and today is windy, rainy, and borderline cold. You never know what you might get here. We ate dinner at the Yawu's, they moved from Africa a few years ago and were baptized about 1 year ago, so i got to eat some African food without going there. It was cabbage with pork and bone in fish ( I didn't get any but elder Whittaker did, he doesn't like fish either), chicken wings, chilli, donuts, muffins, and plantains. We also visited Cornelius, a less active with a really big afro he sticks his hair pick in when he walks around. We cleaned at the Food bank and unpackaged soap this week. We also found some new people, so hopefully we teach them more than 1 or 2 lessons. I did get the package on Saturday, thanks so much. I was asking Elder Whittaker if he knew what scotcheroos were and so it was perfect to show him. I checked out the book and my pick by just looking at the pictures was lot 28, but 1 looked good too haha. And thanks for the gloves and pen dad, you can always use pens and gloves, especially from Sitz. Thanks for the updates, Elder Mitchell is the District Leader for us 4 and Elder Liddell and Elder Elggren in the New Portage Branch, which is right below our area. I don't mind to much being on a bike, at least when it isnt to cold, because we are able to get outside and move around a little more than when you have a car. With General Conference coming up that is exciting for us, we will probably end up watching it at the church. We have been just trying to visit and as always find people to teach. I hope you have a wonderful week, I am doing good, i forgot my camera at the baptism, so maybe I can get a picture to you from Elder Whittaker. I appreciate all the support still from everyone. Have a great week.
